KidMusicMed, founded by fabu records recording artist, Corley Roberts, is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to use songwriting as a means of coping and expression for kids dealing with serious illness. Corley, recognized by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) as a honorary Friend of Music Therapy, uses songwriting, performance, and visual arts in her work with children.
MISSION: To provide emotional, physical and psychological support for kids through the use of music in medicine.
KidMusicMed incorporates the use of "music mentors" who work with kids in various settings (hospital, community, home). The mentors are singer-songwriters that include kids as well. Working along with the music mentors are healthcare professionals such as social workers and music therapists.
Songs created out of the KidMusicMed program will be recorded and produced on fabu records and can be accessed through the Internet here at the web site.
The Advisory Board for KidMusicMed is made up of professionals in music therapy, medicine, social work and songwriting and performance.
KidMusicMed is funded through sponsorships, grants, and fund-raising. Please contact Corley
Roberts if you wish to support this program.
The KidMusicMed logo you see above was designed by 11 year old cancer survivor, Raina Strausman of Albany, NY, 1999.
The theme song written by Corley, "Be Still", is available
for $5.00 plus shipping and handling. This is a limited edition CD single
and all proceeds will go the KidMusicMed program. Order
